The Garden As of September 15

A touch of red on the trees in the back woods here in New Hampshire. No frost yet, but it's been going down to about 40 at night.

The tomatoes are harvested and, in general, the plants are winding down, vegetable garden and flower garden-wise. Here's the latest --

Above: the raised beds of the vegetable gaden.

Winter squash and sweet potato vines intermingle, and are taking over the wheelbarrow!

Stacy's bench in front of what should be a raised bed of only peppers (background) and a few more sweet potatoes. But since this box was used for tomatoes in 2011, we had some sudden volunteers as soon as the yellow squash plants were taken out last month. Now there are plenty of late cherry tomatoes.

A ghostly tangle of tomato vines with a bit of kale on the side. Most of the tomatoes are gone now. Where have they gone? Here.

The tired cucumbers.

... And, in the back of the cucumbers, this new bed of lettuce. Lettuce likes the cool weather.

Everything is faded now.

The morning glory which has stubbornly refused to bloom has suddenly changed its mind. Go figure!
